Alum Rock Park......use caution (cross post)

From: Lisa Lazar (lazar.bauer@earthlink.net) | Date: 2007-03-30 16:41:39 UTC
I want to encourage everyone to use common sense, and not hike alone
at the event this weekend. Although most people's experiences at Alum
Rock Park are positive, we still should use caution.

I also strongly urge everyone to leave their dogs at home. Poodles, it
seems, are particularly at risk.

I'm worried about Robb, who cannot move very quickly, and might be at
particular risk.

So, let's stick together, okay?

Ok, here's the plan. Lisa & Robb only box with a group of at least 6.
If something threatens Robb, the group forms a defensive barrier around
him, just like I saw the Prairie Dogs do on Animal Plant when they were
protecting a mother & her young from hawks.

BTW Lisa, if you haven't planted them yet, can you bring the stamps I
made for Robb so I can get an image?

Does anyone have a sacrificial poodle they wouldn't mind donating to the
cause? Robb could keep it in his pack and use it to buy some time if
necessary. If more than one poodle is offered, I'd like to call dibs - I'm
not all that fast either.

Kathy--I'm sure CrowGirl could supply some Poodles, especially if some
money was donated to her favorite animal rescue group. However, I am
concerned that the constant shrill yapping of the little beasts might
in fact attract unwanted attention and precipitate an unpleasant
encounter...

safety of all involved on Sunday.

Maybe we could use the poodles as chaff & send them off in another
direction from us.

Or if we were really brave & wanted to precipitate an unpleasant
encounter, we could use them as chum for the CHUD.

Or we could use the poor little dogs as bait in booty traps.

Why does this seem to beg a poodle stamp?

Or a carniverous albino stamp?

Oh, I love this-- some new way to offer
"encouragement" for the kids to behave well-- I love
these classic tactics in dealing with unruly
young'uns:

A classic... tactic was used by San Jose parents in
the 1960s, who warned their children to shape up or be
dropped off in Alviso.

So there go go everyone--Y'all better shape up or
you'll be dropped off in Alviso!

See you Sunday--

Anna
